VancouverUSA Ramble
adventure race challenge

REGISTRATION IS NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH ACTIVE.COM

Here is your opportunity to try an adventure race in a (mostly) urban setting. VancouverUSA is the second oldest American settlement in the Pacific Northwest. The Discover VancouverUSA is your chance to immerse yourself in history, both cultural and natural, as you run, bike and canoe through this unique corner of Washington State.

§       Here is our list of required equipment.

§       You'll start off on foot at Clark College, with everyone else. You'll follow the same rules as everyone else, listed on the Ramble Rules page. After you've successfully scored a minimum of 1,000 points on foot, return to the Start/Finish area and you'll be given another map for your bike leg. (Be sure to keep your main map and checkpoint description sheet. You'll need it later.)

§       Your bike map will show a corridor out to Vancouver Lake Park. You can pick up more checkpoints on your way.

§       At Vancouver Lake Park, you'll get a map of Vancouver Lake. Switch to your canoe or kayak and head out for additional checkpoints. These checkpoints will be the regular orienteering kind: marked with orange and white markers (either floating or on land). You'll confirm you've been to each using a coded punch.

§       You will not be credited for any canoe/kayak checkpoint UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN TO ALL CHECKPOINTS WITH LOWER VALUES. That is, you may go to the 10th canoe checkpoint first, but you will not be given credit unless you also go to canoe checkpoints 1 through 9.

§       Adventure racers must earn at least 100 points on the canoe/kayak leg, but may leave the lake at that point if they need to hurry back to the Start/Finish area before the end of the Ramble.

§       When you finish your canoe/kayak leg, get back on your bikes. Pedal to any checkpoint on any map that you haven't reached already. Be sure to return to the Start/Finish before the 6 hours are up.

§       After the DIscover VancouverUSA Ramble is over, be sure to go back to Vancouver Lake Park as soon as possible to retrieve your boats. Our staff will be there until 5:30 or so, but we must have everything cleared out before the park closes.

§       IMPORTANT: We do not provide bicycles, canoes, kayaks or, for that matter, shoes. We are working on some arrangements with a local boat rental place, but your best bet is to contact them yourself, and make reservations as soon as possible.

§       We will not be transporting boats to Vancouver Lake. You must take yours there yourself. We will have someone there by 7:30 a.m., early enough so that you can deliver your canoe or kayak in the marked area at the couth end of the Vancouver Lake Park beach, and then go to the Start and Registration area at Clark College.
